ADHD being calm, happy and healthy

I was asked this question and thought.. well…

1. Stop expecting us to fit unnatural circadian rhythms - we aren’t created to sleep 10 - 6 and work 9 - 5.

2. Stop trying to squeeze every drop of energy we have… just because we can produce brilliance 2 days a week doesn’t mean we can or should do that 7 days a week. 2 days of sparkling like the sun requires 2 days staring at a wall to recharge.

3. Write things down

4. Number them

5. Keep them succinct

6. Stop convincing us that we’re letting ourselves down when we can’t perform at peak 24/7

7. Trust us… there is a logical explanation for the tangent you think we’ve gone on… just give us time to explain

8. Give us a clue to activate our memory, instead of getting offended if we can’t recall something important to you; it is not indicative of our priorities

9. Just say it again if we’ve inadvertently zoned out and ask what you just said… IT’S NOT PERSONAL

10. Give us processing time and allow us to come back to you when we have processed our response… otherwise we spend our lives feeling like we had no right of response or being accused of ‘not letting things go’ ‘dredging up the past’ ‘bearing a grudge’!

11. Yeah, unspoken rules would have me stop at 10… why? It’s an irrational made up rule and, anyway…. Who said so?
